We are excited to support the official trailer launch for the documentary “Why Our Brains Hurt”! The documentary goals are:

🧠To unpack how gender bias within the medical system impact women dealing with traumatic brain injury (TBI) symptoms.
📣Raise awareness for the reality of experiences with brain injury.
💕Offer a community for women managing TBI recovery, to know that they are not alone in their experiences.
💜Challenge the medical system to do better caring for women.

Nous avons travaillé en collaboration avec des personnes survivantes âgées qui souffrent de traumatismes crâniens pour comprendre leurs vécus, les préjudices causés par les lacunes dans les soins, et ce à quoi un soutien optimal devrait ressembler.

Leur message est clair : les systèmes doivent être informés des traumatismes et de la violence, accessibles et conçus autour de la dignité, de la confiance et de la responsabilité.

We worked alongside older adult survivors living with brain injuries to understand their experiences, the harm caused by gaps in care, and what support should look and feel like.

Their voices are clear: systems must be trauma and violence-informed, accessible, and built with dignity, trust, and accountability at the center.
