Vivien Green

Vivien Green has been involved in community development and social justice advocacy for over 25 years in diverse communities, including as a consultant to Aboriginal organizations and First Nations communities in Northwestern Ontario. For over 15 years, Vivien was the Executive Director of the Woman Abuse Council of Toronto, a policy development & planning body whose mandate is to create institutional & systemic change that improve women’s safety. As its first staff, Vivien helped to build an active organization that promoted effective coordination and collaboration to address the issue of woman abuse.

She was a member of the provincial Joint Portfolio on Domestic Violence, convened to oversee the implementation of recommendations from the Arlene May Inquest. She has been a member of the provincial Domestic Violence Death Review Portfolio since inception & was the recipient of the Constance E. Hamilton Award on the Status of Women, one of the 2005 Access, Equity & Human Rights Awards presented by the City of Toronto.
